Yannick Ponsero (FRA) skated to the victory on the final day of NRW Trophy for Figure and Pair Skating 2009. Samuel Contesti
took the silver medal and the Belgian Kevin van der Perren earned the bronze.
Ponsero put out a strong performance, his program was highlighted by a quadruple toeloop. He earned high levels for his free
skating and a score of 224, 33
altogether.
Samuel Contesti played with the crowd during his energetic performance and drew huge applause. He puts out a breathtakingly
beautiful program to mexican music. Once he had the jumps under his belt, he sparkled with excellent footwork and earned a
score of 204,49 for his presentation.
Kevin van der Perren nailed 2 Triple Axel and came in fourth with a score of 199,26.
Denis Ten who was ranked second after short programm, couldn`t repeat his convincing short program performance and came in 4. Mentionable is as well the quadruple toeloop from Sergey Vornov who came in 5.

The participants of the category Senior Men are currently on the ice performing their short programms. Yannick Ponsero from France grabbed
the lead ahead of Denis Ten from Kazakhstan.
Ponsero impressed with excellent skating skills and beautiful jumps.
His program was highlighted by a quadruple toeloop, double toeloop combination. Ten sparkled with his technical skills and his footwork. Kevin van der Perren from Belgim came in first, Samuel Contesti is currently ranked 4.

Two russian pairs grabbed the lead in the Junior Pairs competion. Izina Moiseeva/Vladimir Morozov
came in first with a score of 41,60 ahead of Evgenia Krapivnia/Konstantin Medovikov (40,52).
Juliana Gurdzhi and Alexander Voeller put out an energetic performance and drew huge applause. They were awarded with high level
for their program components. Unfortunately, Juliana`s double Axel failed
The Medals in the category Novice Men are assigned.
The Korean Dong Won Lee came in first. His technical ambitious performance was highlighted by his excellent Triple-Salchow,
Double-Toeloop, Double-Toelopp combination as well as his Triple-Lutz, Double-Toeloop combination. He grabbed the second place in free skating judgment with a score of 83,88 and was only beaten by Murad Kurbanov.
Kurbanov put out an excellent performance with high-graded programm components. He finished second in overall standings.
Nico Ulanovsky from Dortmund produced a strong performance. He opened his programm with a triple toeloop. triple toeloop combinations. He was rewarded with the bronze medal for his amazing performances.
Tim Dieck continued his succesful "comeback" this season and elated the audience with his gorgeous programm with an impressive choreography. He came in 6th. If he can manage to improve his technical skills, he will be able to convince the judges in the future.

In The Category Novice Pairs Maria Derybina and Mikhail Akulov from Russia grabbed the lead with a score of 33,45,
ahead of the other russian couple Lina Fedorova and Maxim Miroshkin. Milena Gerner and Jurij Gnilozoubov, the couple from Dortmund came in third.

The first day of NRW Trophy for Figure and Pair Skating 2009 is over.
Circa 20 young man and 40 young ladies from about 10 nations participated today. The young athletes at the age of 10-12 years fascinated the audience with their short program presentations on 80 000 litres of frozen water.
1800 square metres had been available as a stage for their presentations
Results after Novice Ladies Short Program

Laura Ponzio from Italy is ranked first after the short programm of Novice Ladies. She hit a solid Triple Toeloop and produced a strong performance. Nicole Schott from Germany came in second, only 7 hundredth followed by Victoria Manni from Italy.
The Novice Men opened the competition with some top-class performances.
The Korean Dong Won Lee puts out an excellent performance and hit a triple Lutz and double-toeloop combination as well as an double salchow. He elated the audience with his ambitious short programm.
There are also some succesful results for the participants from Dortmund. Nico Ulanovsky hit triple-double toeloop
combinations and a solid triple Salchow, a triple Salchow.
Tim Dieck came in as number six after the short programm. He puts out an solid performance after his two years break from the ice rink.
The NRW Trophy 2009 for Figure and Pair Skating starts today. We are looking forward to 5 eventful days with exciting and fair competitions
